What's With the Planner Craze? (And how I fell into its trap)

9/09/2015

Remember a few months back when, out of nowhere, the name Erin Condren was being thrown around? It was all over YouTube — people purchasing and talking about their uh-ma-zing life planners. And if it wasn't Erin Condren, it was Lily Pulitzer, because.... you know.... patterns. Then, at least in my little world, planners went quiet.

But then....

"Plan with Me" videos were errrywhere! This week's theme, those awesome stickers, these rad pens, etc. etc. What? Okay. I was still over here going, "pffft," and moving on.

But then....

One night, when doing my usual watch-YouTube-before-going-to-bed, I decided I was bored with my usual line-up, and saw this video from Jenna Rose:

and was hooked. I totally understood.

See, I usually use Google Calendars for all my scheduling/planning needs. That and old-fashioned paper to-do lists, or plain planners sans nifty colors and stickers. It works, but there is something strangely satisfying about being able to theme your week... complete with nifty color/purpose-coordinating stickers.

Stickers.

One never loses the love of stickers, am I right? I'm 30-years-old, and I would totally sticker up my life planner.... if I had one. Now, you may be wondering, am I going to order an Erin Condren Life Planner? My answer? Maybe.

The only thing holding me back is the price (although I'm sure worth it), and the thought of shelling out even more dough on stickers and washi tape. Even if I printed my own stickers, I'd still be spending on the packs of sticker paper, and ink for my printer.... but my printer is black and white only, so I couldn't even do that if I wanted to. /sob. Basically, it's a whole lot of money.

So, for now, I'll have to settle for the nightly binge-watching of "Plan with Me" videos, and maybe devise a way to dress up my Google Calendar.

Psssst. Check out Jenna's Cherry Blossom Spread. It's gorgeous!

Do you have a fancy planner? Who makes your favorite "Plan with Me" videos?
