#DueDateBaby 2014 Event

Due Date Baby 2014 — a Modern Mrs.
I do hope you were able to follow my experience at Due Date Baby yesterday! I was on Instagram and Twitter the whole time, and was posting photos of my favorite booths, as well as some of the interesting products I was learning about. It was a great experience, a wonderful time, and I was honored to be there.

I guess I'll begin by walking you through our experience step-by-step. When we entered Port Discovery, the first table we saw {aside from the registration desk} was the raffle table, which housed the swag bags and provided a preview of the goodies that were to be raffled off that day. These items included 4moms' Breeze Playard, a gift basket of assorted MAM products, a gift basket of assorted Lansinoh products, a Ingenuity InTrust 35 Pro Infant Car Seat {courtesy of Babies R Us}, a Medela Pump In Style Advanced on-the-go tote, and a Ripley's {as in Believe It Or Not} Two-Headed Plush Toy and admission for four to their Baltimore attraction. I don't know about you, but those are some seriously awesome goodies, and I can imagine the lucky winners are still beaming over their scores today!

After that, we worked our way around the room. There were tables set up on the left and right sides of the room, as well as a few tables down the middle. I'd like to share with you some of my favorite tables, and I'll begin with Relay Foods.

This is Katie. She and I chatted for a good while about their online farmer's market. She showed me how to navigate their site, the vast assortment of products they offer, and explained to me how the delivery process works. They offer all the top name brands as well as local products, organic food, dairy alternatives, and Paleo, Gluten-Free and Vegan options. The food is fresh, and the prices are pretty on-point, if not cheaper, to what I pay when I go to the grocery store. They even have sales! Oh, and they don't only offer food — they have household products, vitamins, and more! I highly recommend checking them out. I bet you'll find them as interesting as I do.

I must add, the only downside for me is they don't have any delivery locations for my town or the surrounding area. The closest pick-up location is 45 minutes away, and even further for anyone south of me. However, if you live in a more urban area, or are further north of me, they have more pick-up locations, or can even deliver right to your doorstep!

The next exhibitor was oogiebear; "the first mucus removal tool that safely and gently removes both sticky and dried mucus from a child's nostrils." If you're a parent, you probably have a nasal aspirator. You know.... that bulb thing they give you at the hospital when you give birth. Oh, and you know... that thing that all babies everywhere hate. Well, at least my E hates that thing. So, you can imagine how interested I was in this strange-looking new concept.

Here you can see the oogiebear up-close and personal like. On one end there's a loop {for sticky boogies}, and on the other there's a scoop {for the hard boogies}. It's strategically designed to prevent being inserted too far, and it has a soft, friendly design to keep baby happy. Honestly, this thing looks like a life saver. I certainly can't get a finger into E's nostril, and the aspirator doesn't work for hard boogies anyway, so this is a product that made its way onto my wishlist for sure.

After that we mosied on over to The Nurturing Root's table, and if you were following my feed yesterday, you already saw how impressed I was with Carmen and her services.

Due Date Baby 2014 — a Modern Mrs.
The Nurturing Root is a one-of-a-kind business that offers natural birth training {a.k.a Birth Boot Camp}, Placenta Encapsulation, Placenta Prints, Umbilical Keepsakes, and more! Carmen is such a lovely lady, and I had a great time learning about the benefits of placental consumption. I sincerely wish I had met her prior to E's birth, because I most definitely would've called on her to encapsulate my placenta. Let's be honest... the idea of eating our placenta seems kind of gross, so this way you can enjoy the benefits without the ick factor. And who wouldn't want an umbilical keepsake?! Please, if you're in the Baltimore, Annapolis, or surrounding area of Maryland, visit their website to learn more about Carmen and The Nurturing Root.

You may be wondering what, exactly, am I showing you here.... See that bunny thing there? That is The Hands-Free Bunny Bottle Holder, and it's made by Infant Innovators. The HFBBH is a "patented, unique, stuffed animal rabbit with adjustable straps that can attach to the infant and provide assistance during feeding time to millions of parents." You'll be happy to know the enclosed bottle warmer meets all safety standards!

Next up, Jammy Jams. As I said yesterday, because you can only listen to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star so many times. Jammy Jams provides lullaby versions of songs "originally sung by everyone from Jay-Z to Stryper, Eminem to The Fray, Lady Gaga to The Beastie Boys," and more! Formats include CD and digital downloads via iTunes.

I'm very much looking forward to listening to their tunes, as I've never been a fan of traditional lullabies. {Sorry, not sorry.} Whatever your taste, Jammy Jams is bound to have it!

As we were wrapping up our visit, I made sure to stop by Lansinoh's table. Lansinoh is a brand I know and trust, and some of my favorite products of theirs include their Disposable Nursing Pads and Breastmilk Storage Bags. The ladies working that table introduced me to a new product I hadn't seen in stores, which is their LatchAssist Nipple Everter. I also learned of a number of products they have been making for some time, but I hadn't seen in-store. Definitely check out their website for the full gamut!

These ladies also told me they have some new products coming out soon. How exciting!

Lastly, I stopped by the Babies R Us table. They were helping expectant mamas create their registries, but I wanted to tell you about a neat little event they're hosting. On Saturday, October 18th at 10 a.m. {at your nearest Babies R Us store} they're hosting Baby's First Halloween, where you bring your baby in costume and participate in a parade. There will be fun activities, prizes and giveaways too! Visit babiesrus.com/firsthalloween for details!

Before I go, I want to share a bit about Informed Birth Choices. I didn't grab a photo of Danielle, but she told me a bit about what they offer, which is childbirth education, parenting classes, and doula services. If you're interested in doula services and live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, please, leave a comment on this post and let her know! Doulas are in short supply here on the shore, and they have a doula on staff who might be interested in coming over our way, if there's enough interest. In any case, check 'em out!
