Weekend Adventures {5/31/14} — A Modern Mrs.
I've decided I want to start vlogging on the weekends. Of course, as soon as I made that decision I discovered something is wrong with the camera I use to film videos, and can't film until we figure out what's wrong. {We think it just needs a new battery.} So, the vlogs will have to wait, but in the meantime, I figured I could do some photo diary posts of our Weekend Adventures.

This past weekend we took a trip to a park that's about a half hour out of town. It sits on the water, which is wonderful, and it utilizes old tires for some of the activities. For those of you who aren't aware, farms are a frequent sight around here, so there's plenty of large tires that can go to waste. Utilizing these tires in a fun way is something I think is a fantastic idea! Anyway, we spent a few hours there before moving on to Tutti Frutti, which I don't have nice photos of, but I thought I'd share some of the gorgeous shots I took while enjoying our day at the park.

Here's an example of how this park utilizes old tires. Not only have they created this dragon-like entity {that's incredible adorable}, but the ground is actually chips of tires, which makes it soft to walk on and provides somewhat of a cushion when the kids fall down. There in the background are some half-buried tires the kids climb on, as well as the tire pyramid shown below:

C'mon. Isn't that great? There is also a net made of tires the kids can swing on as a group, which a nice man {a father to a boy L's age} was pretending was a boat on rocky waters. The kids were totally into it, and he did an amazing job entertaining them. It was fun to watch!

Shortly before we left, we headed down towards the water. It was such a gorgeous day! The water was calm, and people were kayaking with the boats provided. There was the cutest little boathouse I never noticed before, which looked like something out of an 80's summer-themed movie. Bikes were tied up on a rack for people to use on the nearby trails. We took a few minutes to enjoy the scenery before moving on to Tutti Frutti to cool off.

It was a great day.

Sunday was supposed to include L's bridging ceremony for Girl Scouts, but the time was changed and we didn't know, so we missed it. It was terrible. However, our new troop leader {and neighbor} was so kind and came over to provide a backyard remake, so L was cheered up, and all was well with the world.

I hope you like this new post segment! What do you think of the park? Do let me know what you think of weekend vlogs, and/or of photo diary posts till our camera is working again.
