Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak Recipe — A Modern Mrs.
Comfort food. 'Nuff said.

I could have left that sentence there and moved on with the recipe, and been just fine with that. This recipe is quite simply {and deliciously} comfort food, and words will never do it any justice. I can tell you how moist and flavorful the meat is, how placing it atop a pile of creamy mashed potatoes makes it a palatable masterpiece, or that it's really easy to make... all of which will pique your interest, but what it boils down to is the fact that you must make this recipe and discover its wonder for yourself.

As if that wasn't enough to get you to consider this for your next meal plan, the night I made this, upon finishing her dinner, my daughter promptly got up to call her grandparents and tell them how delicious it was. Aaaand has mentioned having it again at least once a day since. Needless to say, it's on our meal plan for this Thursday, and while I originally halved the recipe, I'll be making a full batch this time around.

{via AllRecipes}

  • 2 pounds Lean Ground Beef
  • 1 (1 oz.) envelope Dry Onion Soup Mix
  • 1/2 cup Italian Seasoned Bread Crumbs {I used Panko Crumbs and they turned out just fine.}
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 1/4 cup Flour
  • 2 tbs. Vegetable Oil {Olive Oil also works fabulessly.}
  • 2 (10.75 oz.) cans Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup
  • 1 (1 oz.) packet Dry Au Jus Mix
  • 3/4 cup Water
  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, onion soup mix, bread crumbs, and milk using your hands. Shape into evenly-sized patties. {I use a burger press. I highly recommend you buy one!}
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Dredge the patties in the flour just enough to coat them lightly, then quickly brown the patties on both sides in the hot skillet.
  4. Place the browned patties into the slow cooker stacking them alternately like a pyramid.
  5. In a medium bowl, mix together the soup, au jus mix, and water. Pour this mixture over the meat.
  6. Cook on low for 4-5 hours, or until the beef is well done.
