Modern Mom Style: Makin' It Work

I could not be more excited for today's Modern Mom Style! Why, you ask? For a few reasons, actually. Let me break it down:
  1. It's a never-before-worn ensemble.
  2. I {again} found use for some items I rarely wear.
  3. It was my first time wearing the scarf my brother bought for me.
  4. I tried out a new camera angle in an attempt to look taller. {Did it work?}
Exciting, right?

Purple Top: Kohl's
Tan Top: Rainbow
Leggings: Target {Similar}

Boots: Target {Similar

You see that tan top peeking out? It's a tank top with a really strange neckline. It's cut long, which does nothing for my petite frame... Let's be honest. It makes me look stumpy and pudgy {thanks to its shapelessness}. I wish I had tried it on in the store. Let this be a lesson to you! Anyway, it has been sitting in my closet for a year having only been worn, I think, once prior to this outfit.

Well, this particular day I wanted to wear this scarf, and I was trying to think up how I could do that. I didn't think jeans really suited it, and I remember it being a day where we had a light dusting of snow, so I wanted to stay warm. I have these leggings that really flatter my legs, but I don't wear them often because I only have so many ways to cover my front {ahem} and my rear. I'm a true believer in the cardinal rule of never wearing leggings unless your rear is at least mostly covered, and your front is certainly covered! I had already worn leggings with a long tank and cardigan a few days prior, so the cardigan was a no-go. Then I spotted this tank... hm... I gave it a whirl.

Just right! It peeked out just enough from under my top to cover most of my little booty, and covered my front entirely. Win! I was able to wear my purple top, which I thought paired well with the scarf, and didn't have to worry about not looking appropriate.

I don't know about you, but I'm super proud of myself for making some use of my neglected clothes!
