10 Holiday Crafts for Kids

Craft time with your littles is such a special time. You're bonding, creating memories and having fun all at the same time, and those crafts will be worth more than gold by the time you're through... for years and years to come! {Imagine when your babies are grown and you're pulling them out of a box. /tears} Most of the ideas I'm about to share with you are for smaller children {toddlers and preschool-aged}. You know, while they're still interested in craft time with Mommy. However, there are a couple that can be done with older children, and you can certainly put your own spin on these ideas to accommodate your situation!

Christmas Crafts for Kids
1. Styrofoam Snowman Ornament / Crafts 'n Coffee / You will need:
  • Styrofoam Balls in various sizes
  • Wooden Skewers
  • Pipe Cleaners {or...}
  • Fabric Scraps
  • Small Decorative Buttons
2. Snowman Handprint Ornament / Little Bit Funky / You will need:
  • Round Ornaments
  • White Acrylic Craft Paint
  • Sponge Brush
  • Empty Egg Carton
  • Sharpie Markers
3. Reindeer Handprint Ornament / Mommy Gaga / You will need:
  • Card Stock Paper
  • Brown Non-Toxic Acrylic Paint
  • Non-Toxic Glue
  • Hole Punch
  • Red Ribbon
  • Bobble Eyes
  • Red, Black or Pink Small Pom Poms
4. Foot and Handprint Reindeer Keepsake Plate / Pinterest / You will need:
{Remember to immediately wash hands and feet after transferring, and bake the finished product for 35 min. at 300°F.}

5. Salt Dough Ornament or Keepsake Plate / Nest of Posies / You will need:
  • 4 cups Flour
  • 1 cup Salt
  • Food Coloring
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Water
  • Cookie Sheet
  • Touch of Oil
  • Rolling Pin or Dowel
  • Drinking Straw
  • Ribbon
  • Plate {for a guide}
  • Paint, if desired

6. Melting Snowman Art Project / Pinterest / You will need:
  • White Paper {for the body}
  • Colored Paper {for the limbs/decor}
  • Tape or Glue
7. Santa Handprint / Suite101 / You will need:
  • Colored Card Stock
  • Fingerpaint
  • Paint Brush {for small details}
8. Glittery Pinecone Ornaments / Mom Spotted / You will need:
  • Pinecones
  • Glue
  • Glitter
  • Paint Brush
  • Satin Ribbon
9. Santa Handprint Ornament Printable / Balancing Home
10. Fingerprint Candy Cane / Leapfrog and Ladybugs / You will need:
  • 5x7 Canvas Panel {or card stock}
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Coordinating Ribbon
  • Glue

  1. I love love love Christmas crafts! We did stockings on card stock this year and let the girls decorate them with glitter and sequins. More of the glitter ended up on the floor and table than anywhere else, but it was fun.

  2. That has to be one of the most tried-and-true kids craft - glue and glitter. Can't go wrong!
