Lights, Cocoa, Action: Our Favorite Christmas Movies

Lights, Cocoa, Action: Our Favorite Christmas Movies
Ho, Ho, Hold on... Thanksgiving is next week, and there's only 41 days till Christmas! You know what that means? That means it's officially time to get into the holiday spirit! Well, in our house that time came on November first, but what's a few days between our official start and writing about it?

With the holidays rapidly approaching, many households are continuing (or starting new) traditions, such as picking out/putting up their Christmas tree, going to see Santa Claus, baking cookies, or a number of other things. We don't put our tree up until Black Friday, and most of our other traditions follow suit. (Writing a letter to Santa, choosing our yearly ornament, getting our portraits taken, etc., etc.) However, there are a few things we have gotten into... like lighting festively-fragranced candles, buying everything pumpkin-scented or flavored in sight, and curling up at night with a hot beverage and watching one of our favorite Christmas movies.

So, in our house, there are the "family favorites," and then there are holiday-themed favorites for J and I that aren't family-friendly (a.k.a. not G-rated). The J and I list is much shorter, and consists of Scrooged with Bill Murray, and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase. Christmas could never be the same without an annual viewing of National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

"The most enjoying traditions of the season are best enjoyed in the warm embrace of kith and kin." — Clark Griswold.

Required attire consists of fuzzy socks, a warm blanket, or a hoodie if you're like my husband, and you must have a warm beverage. It can be cider, cocoa, tea, warm milk, or coffee — just make sure it's warm or you're killin' the mood!

Do tell.... What are some of your favorites? Do we have any in common?

  1. My favorite Christmas movie is A Christmas Story. I've liked it since I was younger. We also watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Deck The Halls, and then the stuff on TV like Rudolph, Frosty, and the Grinch. Oh and I like the Disney version of A Christmas Carol!

  2. We have the Christmas Classics collection, which has Rudolph, Frosty, etc. all on dvd, but I asked L for her favorites and she didn't mention those. (Although, we do watch them yearly.) I'm so burned out on A Christmas Story. After it being on for DAYS every year..... yea, I'm done. LOL!
