Christmas To-Do List

11/29/2012

'Tis the season! Speaking of which, where did November go? Where did the year go? It feels like only a few weeks ago I was getting married, and now we're more than halfway through our first year. Phew! Well, no matter where November went, there's only one more day before it's December, and that means we're officially into the 25 days countdown! With that said, I thought it would be fun to create a Christmas To-Do List, because who doesn't get some sort of satisfaction from checking things off of a list? (♪♫ Checking it twice... Gonna find out who's naughty or nice... ♫♪)

Ahem....

This list is comprised of things my family does each year, with a few newbies added because I realized I'm a jerk and should share some delicious cookies and cakes with my lovely neighbors. Anyway, here's our list, and I would love to see yours! Do you have similar traditions? Different ones? Sharing is caring!

Also, I thought it might be fun to keep track of the list as we get closer to Christmas. Here's where my family is as of today:

We got a jump on the decorations the day after Thanksgiving. This also included taking some pictures and using them for Christmas cards. (We used Shutterfly — super easy and very affordable.) Our elf, Twinkle, arrived shortly after. So far we've watched a few of our favorite Christmas movies. We're on a roll!

Thanks for reading, and I can't wait to hear about your traditions!

  1. Your list looks very similar to ours. We don't do the Elf on the Shelf, although after looking at some really adorable pictures I'm considering it for next year. Where would I get one if I wanted to start that? We usually make decorations with the kids. This year we're going to do wreaths from paper plates (complete with paper holly leaves, berries, and a bow) and make snowflakes like my Grandma taught me years ago (saying that just made me feel really old!) I bet you and "L" would enjoy making them. We've also got a gymnastics Christmas party to go to and Bryan's shop party this year (which will be at our house). I've got lots of baking planned and a ton of presents to wrap. I'm hoping to do our family picture this weekend!

  2. Hey, Jackie! Our elf was a gift from my mom, but she said she got hers from Newscenter. I'm sure Hallmark stores would have one, and then there's always online shops.
